Financial communication has traditionally been constrained to static slides, two-dimensional charts, and dense spreadsheets. However, the inaugural session of the Immersive Finance Forum (iFF) on August 11, 2026, demonstrated that complex market data can transcend flat screens to become shared, interactive environments.
Conducted on the virtual reality platform Arthur using Meta Quest 3 headsets, the event brought together a handpicked group of participants to experience financial concepts from within. Organized by Christian Salow of altii GmbH alongside Dr. Oliver Everling of RATING EVIDENCE GmbH, the forum introduced a paradigm shift in how financial professionals inspect and evaluate data.
Rather than sitting in parallel rows facing a presentation screen, participants walked together around three-dimensional objects in a shared digital space. This spatial proximity altered the nature of collaborative analysis, enabling attendees to examine models from multiple angles and engage in peer-level discussion.
The power of spatial financial modeling was highlighted through two practical demonstrations. First, a classic yield curve was transformed from a simple line on a graph into a three-dimensional yield landscape. In this environment, maturities, time horizons, and interest rate levels formed spatial dimensions. Participants could walk along the curve, observing anomalies, war-induced dislocations, and crisis patterns as physical topographies rather than abstract numbers.
Second, a sovereign credit risk analysis model—developed by Gerald Kottmann of Alice to Bob and Christian Spiekermann of WeAre3D—translated sovereign creditworthiness into spatial landscapes. Credit ratings were represented through elevation and distance, turning country risk metrics into visible terrain shifts.
As noted in the altii report, financial communication does not have to remain flat; sometimes it is worth stepping right into it. The event proved that immersive technology offers far more than enlarged graphics. By turning static figures into interactive spatial objects, the Immersive Finance Forum establishes a new benchmark for financial analysis, spatial comprehension, and data-driven communication.
